This is a remarkably boring and depressing answer but...
The thing that scares me the most is getting old, because I am woefully ill-prepared for it financially and I have no children. Having seen my dad through his final years, I know how much help you need past a certain point, and I have no one to fill that role and not enough $$ to pay for assistance.
I am hoping to kick off at a reasonably early age before things become difficult. Nothing in the course of my life leads me to believe I will get that lucky, however.

To feel at peace, I head outside and either sit under my favorite tree in the back yard, or I go to a place where I spent most of my summers for much of my life. It is quiet, serene, and looks out over miles of water. I actually think if you were able to put the quiet inner core of my being under a microscope, you would see that particular view.
