Silliness in Space

I’m not out of the weeds at work yet but I’m tired of sounding whiny and cranky.
So this week, I’m not trying to match a meme…
we’re just going with something that makes me giggle.

I'm having a hard time deciding what about this makes me smile the most:
the silliness of the take-off,
the absurdity of the thought,
the faint hint of a roguish twinkle in Worf’s eye, or
that moment of “hmmm…” as you pause and actually consider the idea.   (O.O)
oh my...

Really, the whole thing has just cheered me up enormously.
I hope it gave someone else a grin, too. :-)

The Unexpected Appointment

Apparently, my calendar app knows I'm about to blow…

Sleepin' Space

Actually, a good knock-out pinch sounds pretty good to me right about now.

Not that life is particularly bad - work is certainly stressful at the moment but August and September always suck, pandemic or not. So that's still Situation Normal, All Fouled Up. (ahem)

No, the problem is this bloomin' heat wave. I don’t have a/c at my house, which is no big deal for 48-50 weeks of the year. But during those 2-4 weeks when I'm actually tempted by the bother and expense, sleeping can get ugly.

Which it has - meaning that Sleepy and Cranky now battle for possession of my soul...
while I self-medicate with more ice cream. (Hey, my mama didn't raise no fools!)

BookMan Picks the Dance

BookMan sent me this suggestion for a Friday Night Dance, with the disclaimer that it’s not his favorite style of dancing - “there’s a bit too much writhing” - but that the music was good and the dancers incredible.

To paraphrase Charlotte Lucas, I find that I can bear the writhing very cheerfully …
     and I think it’s a gorgeous piece.

Hopefully you do, too.

Happiness (these days) Is...

New Spudgers

My old ones were worn down to nubs, so my boss bought me a new set.
It was Christmas in July, I tell ya!
(Seriously - cracking open a laptop without a decent spudger is one of the world’s Top Ten Stinking Miserable Experiences.)

New Drill Bits

No more weeding through Dad’s box of old worn, dull, and completely unorganized bits in hopes of finding the right size. I now have my own bright, shiny, multi-purpose set and have already tackled several projects I’d been stalling on for want of the proper tool.
(*insert emphatic nod and vaguely triumphant expression*)

Garden Tomatoes

Really. Does this even need explanation?
No. I didn't think so.

Oh, and did I mention I might have ordered a couple of jigsaw puzzles?

Stop Me Before I Order Again!

It’s not that I’m refusing to go into stores or anything like that, but let’s face it… you cannot be fussy these days. Shelves aren’t empty - but you have to be willing to accept substitutes - which I frequently am… but I also know that I can probably get The Very Thing somewhere online. If I just, you know, spend a little time looking and browsing…

And so it begins.

I generally start off with a very legitimate, albeit sometimes quirky, need.
Like when I broke the carafe of my french press
and watched a whole batch of fresh cold brew seep into my rug…

“Ooh, wouldn’t these scoops make nice Christmas gifts!?”
*click!*
“That reminds me - I’m nearly out of oat milk”
*click!*

Or when my lawn mower needed a new filter…
“I should probably get another gas cover while I’m at it…” (my hedge eats them)
*click!*
“Oh, yeah, I poked through my gardening gloves”
*click!*

Or the book repair tissue I wanted to reinforce the mangled fingernail I’m growing back…
“That paper would make gorgeous decoupage boxes!”
*click!*
“Might as well throw in that library stamp I’ve been wanting.”
*click!*

Granted, sometimes the browsing is pure frivolity - because I got suckered by an ad...
“50% Off?? I need a new summer nightie!” (tho’ no one ever sees them)
*click!*

Or there’s a sale on jigsaw puzzles...
“Who knows how long we’ll have to quarantine this winter?!”
*click!*
“OK, maybe just one more…”
*click!*

And in my defense, sometimes I actually do manage to control myself…
That bone folder would make a nice wispy edge for gluing…”
*mmm… Nah.*

Nonetheless, I'm starting to fear that one day I’ll look up and realize I now own one of these:
But how fun would that be?!?
